Pin curls look glamorous, and they’re easy to create with this tip from a Regency Beauty Institute campus manager.
If you’re already rocking a spring in your step, why not add a little spring to your hair?
D’Andrea F., manager at the Metro Center campus in Phoenix, AZ, knows just how to create curl variety that looks fresh and clean all day. D’Andrea said her technique is especially beneficial for anyone who has an issue with their curls falling after a few hours or even by the end of the day.
Start by curling your hair. While it’s still warm, wrap the heated hair near the front of your face around your finger to create a stand-up pin curl, and secure it with a bobby pin.
D’Andrea advises, “Please do not open your bobby pins, you want to keep that tension in the pin so that it will hold the hair at the base.”
Repeat to create pin curls throughout the rest of your hair. Then once the hair has cooled, remove the bobby pins.
Now you have two options:
1. Leave the hair in well-defined ringlets. This is great for events where you want a more formal style, D’Andrea said.
2. Finger-comb the curls for a more lived-in, beachy look.
