Students at the San Antonio campus partnered with Volunteers of America to gave free haircuts.
Students at the Regency Beauty Institute in San Antonio, TX were able to help change lives and help provide a fresh start to those in need. The campus partnered with Volunteers of America to provide free haircuts to members of the nonprofit organization.
Volunteers for America (VOA) strives to help people reach their full potential by creating affordable housing communities and offers addiction treatment and recovery services. The Regency campus saw this as an opportunity to help these community members and serve them a boost of confidence.
The students gave haircuts to about 25 VOA clients. Many of the women were getting ready for job interviews.
The students and staff wanted to do something to give back to the community, said campus manager Samantha B. By providing haircuts and blow-dry styles to these clients, the students were able to be a part of their fresh start.
Samantha said many of the clients were smiling because they were so pleased with the results and said the counselor revealed it was the first time she had seen some the ladies smile.
The campus plans to continue working with the organization on future projects to help make an impact in the lives of the women.
“The clients were so excited,” said Samantha B. “We could hear them in the waiting area saying ‘This has been the best day.’”
