Students in Champaign donate to the Gifford Tornado Relief Recovery and Toys for Tots.
The campus was able to fundraise through themed dress-up days, potlucks, pizza days, bake sales and other campus events.
The school donated $500 to the Gifford Tornado Relief Recovery to help victims of the tornado that tore through central Illinois mid-November.
Since the town is only about 20 miles away from the campus, the damage affected both community members and Regency students’ friends and families.
“The devastation of the town was heart wrenching,” said Amy T., Champaign campus manager. “We wanted to donate close to Christmas so that the families that lost their homes could use the money for their children and loved ones to enjoy a bit of the holiday season.”
The Champaign beauty school was able to donate another $500 to Toys for Tots this year.
This was Toys for Tots 10th year serving Champaign County with a goal of $40,000 in donations. The campus makes a donation to Toys for Tots every year to show its support for the non-profit.
“We believe that children should not go without on Christmas due to hard economic times,” Amy said.
Both donations reinforce the Regency guiding principle of making a difference in others’ lives. The community-focused donations also help to build and strengthen the community ties with Regency.
“We feel we are very fortunate to be a part of a company like Regency,” Amy said. “Our staff and students believe in giving back to the community for the support they show us as a school.”
