Whether you are getting ready for a romantic Valentine’s Day date or a girl’s night out, one of the best parts of the season of love is getting all dolled up. Here are some easy ways to stay sweet this season.

Bright lips

Nothing screams Valentine’s Day louder than a bold red lip. The classic red lip is always perfect for this romantic holiday, but finding the ‘your’ shade can help your pout pop. Pick a bright color you feel confident in and find the shade that best matches your skin tone.

Colored shadow

Pink shadow can be a difficult color to work with, but when done right it can add a flirty pop of color to your look. Mixing a rosy pink with a matte brown balances well.  Make sure to blend, so your makeup looks light and neutral.

Nailed it

Another option is to add some festive interest to your nails. Choose a romantic shade with a trendy twist like a holographic pink or a bold red with a “matteen” finish.  If you’re feeling adventurous try your hand at some nail art. Go all out with an accent nail, or just add a simple “XOXO” or kiss marks to show you’ve been bitten by the love bug.

Bombshell Braids

Dress up your braid with texture and volume. Cute Girls Hairstyles has tons of photo inspiration. Not only can you browse through the pages and pages of braids, most looks have accompanying video tutorials. Incorporate a braid into an up-do to add texture or make it the focal point with a fluffy fishtail pony.

Loose Waves

Valentine’s Day is all about soft, romantic waves. Think Lauren Conrad or Blake Lively on the red carpet. This dreamy look can be easily achieved two different ways.

  1. Wrap 2-inch sections of hair around a 1 ½ inch curling wand. Make sure to wrap your hair away from your face. Hold each curl on the heat for only a few seconds to ensure a looser curl. Comb through when you are finished and spray with a little hairspray!
  2. For a heat free option try your hand at overnight pin curls. Our previous video on pin curls can start as a guide, but if you have the time start the night before, skip the heat. Wrap 2-inch sections of hair around three fingers until you have a coil. Secure against your head with two crisscrossing bobby pins. After a full night of beauty sleep, remove the bobby pins and finger comb through your hair. Spritz with hairspray, and you’ll be vintage glam in no time.
