From metallic eyes to watercolor nails – the fearless fashionistas who entered the Refinery29 + Regency Beauty Institute #ShareBeautyContest blew up Instagram with their unique takes on five of the hottest summer beauty trends as chosen by Refinery29 editors.

From July 8-August 13, we released one trend each week. Then R29 readers took it for a spin and sent in their pictures – all in hopes of being selected to win the $2,000 VIP Beauty Treatment.

We couldn’t be more proud to announce that the winner of the #ShareBeautyContest just so happens to be a student at Regency Beauty Institute.

When Danitza K.’s entry came through the contest feed, we looked on with hearts in our eyes. Can you say bohemian braids? Wow!

Even with nationwide competition, Danitza’s entry stood out. So we couldn’t resist talking with the North Tucson-campus student to find out what inspired her to enter and what she hopes to accomplish after she graduates.

How Danitza described her look:

Casual, careless, feminine, bohemian

How she created it:

Danitza wanted a style that felt both easy and complicated. She began braiding at the side and arranged the hair at the front, choosing a part and placement of the braids that best suited her model’s face structure.

“I knew I wanted to have as many braids as possible to be able to appreciate the fishtail braid.”

Her inspiration to enter:

A chance to share beauty!

Danitza’s advice for other aspiring stylists:

“Don’t give up.”

Her dream:

One day, Danitza hopes to open her own business so she can help bring brightness to clients’ lives with choices so they have hope for tomorrow.

“I know there are so many women who are super sad, depressed and going through hard times. They wake up, and the first thing they see – ‘they don’t like,’” Danitza said. “I want to make people feel pretty and better about themselves.”

A few words from her Campus Manager Dawn B.:

“Her talent stems from her heart and flows through to her hands, and beauty is created as a result of her genuine purpose.”

Congratulations Danitza!
